Hey hey! been around a month and a half since my last blog which was rubbish because I couldn't be bothered to finish it.  So time for an update on life, my life that is.

Guess I'll start with this week, pretty eventful as weeks go!  A holiday, updates on uni's, exam results and a new Clark's store to work in.  Firstly I can't wait for the Summer because I am actually going to HONG KONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To say I'm excited is a serious understatement, I never thought I'd get the chance to go there so soon but I am and well I'm just stuck for words.  There's sooooooooooooooo much I want to do when I go.  I've been researching for lots of info and checking out info on the coolest, greatest attractions.  Things I want to do and go to most are Jumbo Kingdom, Avenue of Stars *Jet Li's handprints!*, The Peak including Maddame Tussauds, Ocean Park, Lantau Island - giant bronze Buddah, Po Lin Monastary and Ngong Ping 360.  Want to go shopping in Kowloon and Mongkok.  Ah there's so much, still quite a way off though, 4 months.  Also can't wait because it will be like the first time I've been abroad and been on a plane!

Heard from SOAS this week and yup they don't like me unluckily, another decline to add to the collection but i'm feeling ok about it.  I don't think at this rate I will be going to uni, well...not this year so I need to really figure out a plan for life after 6th Form although I am dreading that, saying bye to all my friends but it def won't be a last goodbye!

Got my resit results this week and they were very suprising.  I thought I had done so much better in geog this time but no I totally bummed it, I did even worse than last time, still got a flaming grade D so retaking those, I'm determined to do better than that!  Came as quite a surprise because I revised geography so much and I came out of the exam feeling positive unlike the English one which I thought I had totally failed but I actually got a grade A which I am still shell shocked about.  I can't believe I improved by 3 grades!  How the hell that happened I just can't believe it, I never in my wildest dreams thought I'd get that grade ever!  So that cheered me up no end of good after the geog results and the unis.

The new Clark's store was opened up this week and it was my first day at work on Saturday.  The new store is massive, I was in stock for the 4 hours at work.  The stockroom is way bigger, it can fit around 25,000 pairs of shoes.  It was incredibly busy, so much so that there were about 3 - 4 of us in stock at one time.  A very different experience but was fun.  Worked pretty much non-stop, the people in stock were really cool, I was the only one from my old store who was put in stock, everyone else was on the shopfloor on kids or adults shoes.

It's been a good week for TV in my opinion.  I am seriously addicted to Deal or No Deal, can't get enough of that programme.  My two fave contestants were on this week, Germaine who won £75,000! but actually had the £250,000 box!  Candice  was also on this week and she won £19,000 and had the £75,000 box which she would have actually swapped for a box that contained £500 so she made a bloody good decision.  Would have been awful if she had gone away with such a small amount.

One TV programme that came to an end this week that I've loved is Hotel Babylon, sure it's over the top but it's just really entertaining and got such a great cast.

Other things that happened this week were Em, Ali, Adam and Matt coming round my house which was fun.  We watched Royal Warriors starring Michelle Yeoh and Henry Sanada which totally kicks ass, they do some insane stunts!  Love the cheesy music, and the random guy who just wants to be left alone bless him "I don't know her I just came for tea and biscuits"  Also watched China Strike Force which is essentially rubbish but in a good way, which other film stars Aaron Kwok, Wang Lee Hom, Norika Fujiwara, Ruby Lin, Mark Dacoscas and get this Coolio! what the heck were they thinking when they came up with that!? well...they obviously weren't because in this movie the acting is dire, storyline non existant but the action when it happens totally rocks!

Well that's the latest update, no doubt there won't be another one for another couple of months so catch ya laters everyone!!!

btw what's peoples opinion on the music, should I change it or should I keep it?

So that's it, the end of 2005!  Here it is 2006! Can't believe 2005 has finished!  I still keep on thinking it's July.  Where did it all go?  Here in this blog I'm going to take a look back at all my fave moments of 2005.  My fave movies, songs, TV programmes and new interests.

To begin with I think I'm going to start with the movies of 2005.  My personal favourite (which might surprise a few) from last year was the brilliantly inventive Kung Fu Hustle.  It was easily the funniest movie of 2005.  Stephen Chow is one of the most original film makers I have come across with his brand of mo lay tau (nonsence) comedy.  The story goes something like this.  The murderous axe gang are on the rampage in 1940s Hong Kong killing anyone that annoys them until a band of legendary unlikely heroes crawl out the woodwork and show them what for!  My favourite scenes in this particular movie would have to be the knife throwing one, the looney tunes style chase scene and the end fight scene.  It has unforgettable characters such as Land Lady, Land Lord, Sing and The Beast.  Thoroughly entertaining from start to finish there isn't a film quite like this one.

My second favourite film of 2005 would be Unleashed (Danny the Dog) starring Jet Li, Morgan Freeman and Bob Hoskins.  It tells the story of a man (Danny) who has been raised in a similar way to that of a dog until one day finds a new family and learns the truth about his past.  A great idea mixing action and drama into the same movie.  It seems as if you are watching two movies for the price of one.  Some amazing action scenes by the master choreographer that is Yuen Wo Ping (Kung Fu Hustle, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Kill Bill, The Matrix) with Jet Li pulling off some impressive moves.  The fights are brutal and don't rely so much on wires which is always a bonus.  Higlights would have to be the very beginning fight and the end one that finishes with Jet duelling with a samurai  like guy in a tiny bathroom.  The drama is also excellently filmed in the movie.  Jet Li gives a great performance, one of his strongest ever.  I generally felt sorry for the mistreated character.  Morgan Freeman plays the usual lovable nice guy that helps and cares for Danny as if he were his son.  Bob Hoskins also gives a great perfomance as he plays the truly evil character of Bart and another mention should go to Kerry Condon who plays Sam's (Morgan Freemans) adpoted daughter who helps Danny realise who he is and helps him to become human again.  With it's blend of brutal action, gripping drama and blend of humour this film can't be missed!

My third favourite film of 2005 would be Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  A remake of Willy Wonker and the Chocolate Factory, directed by one of my favourite directors, Tim Burton and starring another fave of mine, Johnny Depp.  Tim Burton creates a surreal blindingly coluorful chocolate and sweet filled land.  My kinda place to live!  Everything and everyone is abstract and pantomime like especially the grusome kids and their parents.  It's a mixture of adventure, comedy, fantasy and even musical with the oompa loompas bursting into song every now and then.  The best family movie I have seen since The Grinch and Shrek 2.

The remainder in my list is as follows:
Batman Begins: Absolutey brilliant, entertained and gripped right through, excellent perfomances from all.  A truely brilliant cast with Christian Bale, Katie Holmes, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman.  Scarecrow was the scariest charcter from any film this year!
Wallace and Gromit: Just as hilarious as Chicken Run and the shorter outings of Wallace Gromit.
Team America: Insane from start to finish, great idea, the more I see it, the more I find it hilarious
Howl's Moving Castle: Totally original, fantastic story, memorable characters.  The beginning and middle are pure magic but it loses it at the end.
Ong Bak: Rubbish plot, amazing action and the robotic man cracks me up each time!
Land of the Dead: We love you George and Leader Zombie, who would have thought we'd route for the zombies.  Is this a joke movie or what!? I'm confused.  Whatever it is, it's great!

The most rubbish films I have seen at the cinema this year go as follows:
1. Seed of Chucky
2. The 40 Year Old Virgin
3. White Noise
4. Pride and Prejudice
5. Oceans 12

The most surprising movie I saw at the cinema was Mr and Mrs Smith which I enjoyed way more than I expected.  Other films I enjoyed a lot more than I should have were Hide and Seek and Skeleton Key.

Hey everyone! haven't updated since my birthday so I think I'll talk about that.  Basically it was GREAT!!!   Thanks everyone for making it such an awesome weekend!

Friday - Went downstairs in the morning opened my cards and present, got a digital camera and I  it!  Can expect lots of pics on the site now!  After I'd opened my present from parents my next door neighbour who is more like an Aunt to me, brought me a bottle of champagne, which seemed really weird as I hardly drink at all and 2 cards!

School was a quite fun, everyone was really nice to me though!  Got a card from Lorna which was really kind, thanks!  I felt pretty bad as I didn't get her one though as our birthdays are on the same day.  Bob bought me a delicious cake from Tesco's and Amy gave me a really funny card and Mulan on DVD! wohoo! thanks so much, you rock!

After school I went home and checked out my Mulan DVD then got ready to go round Tamsins to celebrate her birthday.  Was really fun at Tamsins, had some delicious pizza's (cheese and tomato, meat feast and bbq with bbq sauce instead of tomato puree) and had a great conversation with Tamsin, Hannah, Chris, Josie, Alex and Sophie as usual!  When I got there we exchanged presents.  I gave Tamsin a peacock bag with sequins which I was really happy had finally arrived as I was worrying it wouldn't get there on time, I ordered it off the net you see.

Tamsin, Sophie and Chris however gave me an absolutely amazing present which I am still so excited about!  It's a machine with a pen and pad that lets you write in Chinese and it comes up on the computer, it helps me to the learn the language and speaks back to me!  It's so cool!  Only problem is all the instructions are in Chinese lol! but that's getting sorted.  I got back to my house around 12.00 after a really cool night!  When I left Tamsin gave me a big tub of raisins hehe and when I got home there was an 18 balloon for me but as I have said before as Ellie knows so well, I'm easily pleased! btw Happy Birthday Tamsin!!!

Saturday was a really cool day too.  First great thing was that I had NO work!!! wohoo! but that didn't stop me from going to MK did it now, no it most certainly didn't.

Went with mum and sis, Ellie my sis, wanted to buy me a birthday present so who was I to stop her lol.  Looked around the olde DVD shops for some bargains, Caroline knows just how important that is!  Finally found a great deal in HMV buy one get one free, so my sis bought me Taeguki and In the Mood for Love.  Also had to find a present that Grandma could get and found this great little disc that plays any region DVD on a PS2 oh yeah!

I then met up with Angus when he was on his lunch break which was fun and interesting, as are most convo's with Angy lol.

When I got home I tested out the discs and had lunch, didn't want a lot so as to not spoil my appetite later.

Spent most of the rest of the day cleaning up and making the house look respectable for later on.  Before I knew it, it was time for me to get ready for my party, didn't want to be late like the last years hehe.

On the way to Royal Lido restaurant, we picked up Caroline and Chris.  When we got into the restaurant, there were 3 tables linked together for us with a spinny thing in the middle of each, perfect

Because there were so many of us though, it would take ages to order so we basically had a lucky dip, the staff recommended that they just brought some of the best food on offer.  The staff were brilliant that night, so friendly and welcoming, the food was amazing!  I think everyone would agree.  While we waited for the duck *drools* I opened my presents, I absolutely love all the presents I got!  Tamsin, Sophie and Chris got me some really cool chopsticks with faces, hehe.  Mel, Hannah, Mike and Cerise gave me an enormous stick with possibly the sweetest marshmallows I have ever tasted on, a bag full of white chocolate with hundreds and thousands on, some bubbles in mini champagne bottles, a cool ancient warrior model, 30 Ferror Rocher (my fave chocs!) and a gift card from HMV to buy Unleashed on DVD.  Ali bought me a brilliant red model of a Chinese Dragon.  Matt got me a massive Toblerone mmmm.  Bob got me a wicked Chinese poster.  Alex got me Koma on DVD!, Em and Adam got me Ong Bak on DVD! at long last I have seen it!  It's brilliant! and crazy as is Koma.  Chris got me Escape from Hong Kong Island on DVD! wohoo, looking forward to seeing that, keep thinking it's called Escape from Monkey Island though haha.  Angus got me a portable Monopoly game lol, looks like we'll have to play that eh Monopoly gang, you know who you are.  Caroline got me a picture of Sasha Behar aka Maya Sharma from Corrie! with her autograph! and gift vouchers for HMV and Virgin.  DVD shopping I go!  Nicky, Chris, Glenn, DJ and Ellie gave me money and Steve got me a cool giant novelty pencil even though he didn't come to my party.  Thanks everyone!!!

At the restaurant I had lots of Chinese Tea and some of the food we had included Crispy Peking Duck, Seaweed with Cinamon (I think), Chicken and Chilli, Spare Ribs with BBQ Sauce, Won Ton, Prawn Crackers, Chicken Satay on Skewer, Chinese Style Chicken Curry, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Egg Fried Rice, Noodles and so much more!  Damn, I've made myself exceedingly hungry.

After the meal I was completely stuffed but the staff brought me over an ice cream/cake with choclate and strawberry sauce with a candle and lolly in and sung Happy Bithday to me.  Was really kind of them, i laughed quite a bit that I blew out the candle while they were singing lol.  I felt so incredibly full, it was so good, I ate as much as possible but just couldn't finish it and shared it with the others.

After the party Em, Adam, Caroline, Mel, Bob, Ali, Chris and I went back to mine for cake and champagne.  Got home, got sung Happy Birthday again lol, had a photo of us all taken, played some Tekken 5, then watched Ong Bak! wohoo!

Great film, some amzing stunts, really rubbish plot though and we love the crazy evil old guy with the strange fake voice lol!

We then walked Caroline home and Ali went too, when we got back to mine, we attempted to watch Old Boy but fell asleep lol, all pretty shattered! hehe.

Sunday was lazy day, didn't do much apart from watch TV, eat cake, do some art and watch Mulan! and Koma!

So just want to thank you all for coming to my party, had a great time, thanks for the pressies, all too kind.  I would say that this has been the best birthday I've ever had because all of you are just the best bunch of friends I've ever had and Nick luvs you all!!!

btw my apologies if I sounded like a bit of a spoilt brat, I promise you I'm not.  Pics coming later!

This is going to be my shortest blog, just wanted to post my last blog before I reach that scary old age of 18.  Basically just want to say being 17 has been great and that's mainly to all you guys and gals!  Best mates EVER!!!

Sunday, November 20, 2005

Hey hey all, it's taken me a rediculously long time to write a new blog but here it is.  Where do I start?  So much has happened, so many great meals I've had and none of them from Pizza Hut, yay!  Since I wrote my last blog, 3 meals in Chinatown, one at Chiqueto's for Sophie's Birthday wohoo! twice to Chilli's, one of them at Ali's birthday wohoo!, Elements, Frankie and Bennies, Royal Lido twice and the Mysore at Newport for my dads birthday wohoo! plus lots of takeaways.

Been to London a fair few times, met my really cool internet friends Teik and Alice plus Alice's ma.  Been to the cinema a lot, plus fallen asleep accidentally a lot *ahem* Corpse Bride.  Bowling has become a regular thing too which I def can't complain about.

Also film club has started and I'm loving it!  Monday lunches rule!  Love it when we all go round someones house, Adams rocked! and it was lots of fun people came round mine to watch the legendary Future Cops and A Tale of Two Sisters.

Work has been a bit ultra mad!  Three supervisors come and gone, 1st went to uni, 2nd sacked and 3rd literally disappeared into thin air.  Lots of new staff, I've been helping them and training them up which is kinda weird, but I guess I have been working there for nearly 3 years which is very scary!  Lots of work friends left to go to uni's but they're back in the Christmas Holidays.

I just want to say a great big Happy Birthday too all the people who have had they're birthday since my last blog!

Happy Birthday to all my awesome friends!!! Sophie, Ali, Amy S, Cerise, Caroline, Nicola, Bob, Ray and to Tamsin, Hannah and Teik who's birthdays are approaching!  Also can't wait, because I'm turning 18 this week!

One other great night was when we all went round Amy's, movies, games and some crazy ass fireworks and sparklers, some were on the bloody floor!  Haha that was dangerous but fun nevertheless.

Another fun night was the world feast at the church with Tamsin, Sophie and Chris, eating lots of Chinese, Indian and Italian food.

Two more great nights were Tamsin and Chris' anniversary celebration, 3 years!  and staying round the farm!

So apart from all that and school, there isn't much more to tell I don't think.  So I'll start with yesterday.

Work yesterday was fun, had the radio on all day in the stockroom, the music was average but Vernon Kay and Sarah Cox never fail to make me laugh so was worth it.  I also did a bit of work too lol, same old thing but unpeeling stickers on old sale shoes too, does it get much better than that!?

I met Angus briefly after work which was cool, always good to end the day with a friendly face, funny convo we had.

Highlight of the day was seeing Nick and Vanessa again!  Congrats Vanessa for getting a new job!  Hope it all goes well for you!

After work, went bowling with Adam, DJ, Nicky and Em to celebrate Bobs birthday.  However celebrations for individuals work better if they actually turn up! *hint* *hint* lol.  Anyway was lots of fun, Adam kicked some butt at bowling and I lost horribly, those bowling balls were just meanies!  Also Nicky has the greatest uniform ever! hahaha

Afterwards we went to Elements 'Eatery' hehe.  Was yummy!, 2nd time I'd been there but unlike last time they had lots of food!  Was all very nice!  We should make it a regular thing.  SATURDAYS are the new FRIDAYS!  Learnt quite a bit, funny lighthearted chatter, game of truth, was a good night, unfortunately Nicky couldn't join us for the meal.

Then it was off to catch the bus at 20 to 11 and off to Adams, even DJ came.  We watched the brilliant American Dad then Blade which I fell asleep in almost instantly, woke up to lots of Takeshi's Castle, Em getting married to Adams dog and crazy 'drunk' people on TV.

Left Adams at 4.00am.  I realised I'd left my keys at work so couldn't get into my house lol!  Me and Em went to my house before to wake my parents up but no matter how many times that doorbell rung or I faintly shouted MUM! they just didn't wake up.  The window was opened slightly and the only thing we could hear was my dad snoring doing a duet with the doorbell lol!  Wasn't quite how I thought the night/morning would pan out.  So I then walked Em home and then rung my parents there, after about 3 phonecalls my mum picked up.  I then ran home incase my mum fell asleep again.  Was surprised at how much energy I had at that time of morning.  Then got home, said goodnight, brushed teeth and off to sleep.

Today hasn't been quite as weird and wonderful as yesterday, went to Milton Keynes, pick up keys from work, phew thought I had lost my Kung Fu Hustle Keyring!  After that I then went clothes shopping, ended up buying a quite expensive (nothing compared to Tamsin and Mikes expensive though) but VERY warm and VERY needed coat!, and a really nice shirt and t-shirt.  Bought some sweets from Pick n' Mix stall I'd not been to for absolutely ages, pronbably 7 - 8 years, bought small strawberries and cream chocoalte from expensive choc place, had a tea and cookie in John Lewis, bought Nicky's belated birthday present and Tamsins not so belated card.  A success compared to some dire shopping trips! actually bought some stuff and not one DVD!  Caroline will be angry lol

So that's about it I think peeps, will update this more often then I have been for sure cya later one and all!!!
